The Weird Sanctifying of Death and Firing.

When my father died, my mother turned him and their relationship into something wonderful I didn’t recognize.  That was my first experience with how we alter our belief and even our memories to fit a narrative that feels comfortable.

James Comey’s actions have a DIRECT relationship to why we have President Trump and not President Clinton.  But many Liberals seems to have forgotten this. Just like my mother forgot that her marriage was on the rocks when my father died.

Trump obviously did not fire him for that reason.  He probably fired him because Comey was investigating him and said things like “It makes me mildly nauseous to think that we might have had some impact on the election,”

Apparently Trump harped on that comment quite a bit before blundering into this predictably stupid decision.  But he thought he was cleverly pulling it off by listing Comey’s most obvious problem.

Of course he’s an idiot so he blew the slimmest chance he had of pulling that off. Obama didn’t fire Comey because he KNEW the shit show that would happen.  Smallhands Trump didn’t see it coming.

Here’s the thing.  Liberals have suddenly become Comey advocates.  Because Trump fired him.  NO.

Let’s keep focused.  Comey acted inappropriately in his handling of the Clinton email investigation.  He should NOT have announced it or managed it that way.  It wasn’t his place.  It was probably the Attorney General’s place if any.

Comey is not a clean angel being thrown out without a stain on his character.

The wrong that happened is Trump fired the person leading an investigation into him.  It deeply impacts the investigation’s ability to keep a clean search for evidence.  It influences the investigation.  It’s an abuse of power. It’s an indicator of corrupt government.

Trump had a legal way to fire him.  But he had NO moral or ethical way to fire him.  And then capped it by managing the act itself without any honor or dignity.

178 Former US Attorneys sent a letter to the DOJ requesting an independent investigator because they have issues with context, not the legality of the act.  Not because Comey is a saint we should all stand behind.

The key is not that Comey is a wounded puppy.  He is ultimately the cause of his own demise.  He helped put an unqualified dirty racist man in the oval office.  Not really upset about Comey.  Let Comey lick his wounds and move on.

But do NOT let Trump get away with trying to kill the investigation.  He cannot be allowed to subvert the living fabric of our  government.

Last week Trump said the pipeline would ONLY use U.S. Steel or it wouldn’t be built. But this week it’s going to be Canadian Steel, owned by a Russian Billionaire.

The steel is coming from a company controlled by the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.  Roman is such a good friend of Putin’s that he gave him a 187 ft Yacht.  Roman seems nice, right?

Did you know Vladimir Putin is the richest guy in Europe?

Did you know Vladimir Putin has been a public servant his entire career?

Did you know Vladimir Putin came out of a working class family?

I’ll let you work out the solution to that mystery.

Anyway.

Now imagine a conversation that was had with Trump several years ago.  In which Putin sketches his history.  And suggests how very easy it is to just – get rich (or get yachts) while in public office.

Just imagine that conversation.

“It doesn’t have to be JUST this money I’m bribing you with,” says Putin. “There’s tons of bribes to be found in the world.  And once you are in power, everyone wants to give you money.”

Trump – Adding toxic sludge to the swamp.

ACLU explains the requirements for wiretapping

The full article is here. But the key piece of info is:

In order to authorize the wiretapping, the FISA Court judge must find — based on evidence presented in the application — that there is probable cause to believe that the “target” of the surveillance is a foreign power or agent of a foreign power. The judge must also find probable cause to believe that the phone line, email account, or computer where the surveillance will occur is being used by a foreign power or agent of a foreign power.

Yup.  He’s this much of a moron.

He just announced to everyone that there was sufficient evidence to get his phones tapped.

As a way to distract everyone from the Sessions debacle.  This was his idea of improving the situation.

He’s beyond understanding.

We should start a pool on when he gets impeached.

Every President in My Lifetime has been butt of Late Night Comedians.

It’s part of the American Tradition for them to poked and satirized on these shows.  They have, for the most part, been good natured and mature about it in public.  I am sure it smarts in private.  But if you are the President you are, or should be, mature enough and strong enough emotionally and intellectually to take the high road and ignore it at worst, smile at best.

But Donald Trump is not mature.  He is the emotional equivalent of a 13 year old.  And so he is openly showing how much he smarts from pokes.

donald-trump-tweet

Everyday we seem him lash out in someway because someone did something that hurt his feelings.  Every weekend we see him complain about SNL.  It’s embarrassing that he’s so pathetically thin skinned.  He exudes that terrible awkwardness that comes when someone is utterly unaware that they are showing their weakness to everyone and becoming weaker in the process.

There is a twitter feed called @MatureTrumpTwts   They re-write his tweets as though a proper president had written them.  It is so utterly depressing to see the stark difference between what we have always expected from out leaders and what we are being served by Trump.  We have essentially elected a man with a tween mentality.

It’s terrifying.  His skin is so thin that the absolutely reliable tradition of being made fun of by comedians is bothering him.  How is he going to manage it when the stakes are big, the pokes are unexpected and loss is public. He will be controlling largest military force the world as ever seen.  He will decide whether or not to use nuclear weapons.  And he is as thin skinned as a pimple covered 7th grader.

Our only hope is that he is removed from office sooner rather than later.  I don’t doubt that Pence will still enact legislation that will enrage me because I’m a liberal and he’s a conservative. That is the nature of politics.  But I doubt I will ever be afraid that Pence would go to war because of some drama llama moment.  Pence may have a different vision for the country than I do but he would always act for the country not for himself.  And it turns out that is a HUGE factor that we have always had as our default setting to date.  But not anymore.

Why it’s important that Trump be investigated for links to Russian Election Interference.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is going to investigate Trump’s involvement.  This is necessary and good.  Something that could lead to eventual charges of treason for Trump.

Because if a connection is verified of Trumps knowledge and colluding actions with Russian interference – THAT IS TREASON.

But since this is politics, it seems fairly unlikely.

What I don’t understand is how under reported this decision is.

In effect, the President Elect is being investigated for treason.  And it’s not nearly as big a deal as it should be.

Let me express this in ways you can get:

Russia is led by Putin.

Who is Putin?

Putin is an ex KGB agent.  A spy.  An elite spy  when Russia was the Soviet Union.  Rose from a poor boy in Leningrad up the ranks of the KGB. And when the USSR imploded he stepped easily into politics.

He currently is estimated to have $40 billion in assets.  He’s Europe’s richest man.  Those government jobs in Russia.  Wow.  They pay well.

Russia is ranked 119 of the 168 for government corruption.  (2015 ranking)   Putin built a $1 billion dollar house out of corruption.

He got there by driving his opponents out of the country or jailing them.

Or killing them.  Weirdly they are often poisoned.

There is a theory that Putin had a series of bombings done, blamed Chechen rebels, so that he could eradicate the threat and be the hero.   Alexander Litvinenko, who did a thorough investigation into this, was murdered in London from radiation poisoning.  That’s not just killing someone.  That’s doing it the cruelest way.  The suspects fled to Russia and Russia refuses to turn them over the UK authorities.

Putin likes to say he was a “bully, not a pioneer”.  In fact, he is a wife beater and a philanderer.  He had his wife was committed to a mental hospital, allegedly to pursue his philandering.

In the US we think of Putin as something of a farce.  We associate him with his various ridiculous publicity stunts.  But he is NOT a farce.

He hates the internet – because anyone can say anything.   And now he is importing China’s Internet to Russia so that the government controls the social media.

On the other hand, Putin isn’t an idiot.  He gets that the internet is where the opinions are developed.  So he has a troll brigade.  They search for terms and try to influence social media to his benefit.  They were also deployed during our election.

Putin does not tolerate a free press.  His government orders dissenting news stories to be removed from magazines before they can be sold.

34 Journalists have been killed in Russia since 2000.  (compared to 2 in China and 3 in the US)

Russia currently ranks 180 out of 199 countries for press freedom, behind Iraq, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the international watchdog Freedom House.

It is illegal to use cuss words in Films, Music and Books.  Freedom of Speech does not exist under Putin.

Unsanctioned protests are now punishable by lengthy prison terms.  You cannot voice your dissent to his rule.

Putin doesn’t deal with a lot of elected governors of the various states of Russia.  He appoints them all.  He has a bunch of sock puppets.  It’s easier that way for Putin.

Is Trump his new sock puppet?.  Is this the direction we want this country to go?

This country deserves this mess.  The utter apathy which has surrounded this very important and very serious charge is a signal of how out of touch with the big picture reality most of the public is.

I wish the golden showers thing never came out.  It distracted the masses into a giggling fit of jokes, making them ignore the tidal wave of heavy awful that was surrounding that piece of information.

But the Lies Don’t Count Against Him

Quote from Trump Jr. in 2008:

“In terms of high-end product influx into the U.S., Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets… We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

Mind you – Trump the Yam has been denying his financial connections to Russia since last summer.

Of course the Yam also said:

2013 Interview question Does he have a relationship with Putin:

“I do have a relationship, and I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we’re doing here today. He’s probably very interested in what you and I am saying today, and I’m sure he’s going to be seeing it in some form.”

2014 Yam quote:

“You know, I was in Moscow a couple of months ago. I own the Miss Universe Pageant and they treated me so great. Putin even sent me a present, a beautiful present.”

2014 Yam Boast:

“I was in Moscow recently and I spoke, indirectly and directly, with President Putin, who could not have been nicer…”

But when someone explained to Trump that this close relationship he was so proud of was a liability, he changed his tune.

Here’s the thing.  I SERIOUSLY doubt if Trump has a personal relationship with Putin.  He WANTED one because, in the small craven mind of the Yam Pants, Putin is the coolest guy in school.

But Putin is smart and controlled and Trump – not so so much.  So if Putin ever did more than a perfunctory phone call I would be surprised. He would know that a friendship would not fly.

It’s entirely possible, if speculative, that Trump’s Russian handler explained how he needed to change that tune. And to be clear – I don’t think Trump knows this person is a handler or that anyone else has identified this person as a handler. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this handler exists in the closest circles of Yam Camp.  If I were Putin, I would want that handler in close to the Yam.

In any case, the reality is that much more deeply controlling influences have been deployed than a personal friendship with Putin.  Indeed, that is where the evidence is.  Trump, who has never been a particularly good business man, merely a good showman, is in constant need of funds.  He can’t get a loan in the US because he’s such a fucked up business man.

But Russia saw something bigger to be gained than financial interest.  And so money was provided, sex was provided, kink was discovered and leverage was gained.

But it doesn’t matter.  The GOP is invested in this miserable rotting Yam of a Man.  They own the congress and they need someone to sign the horrific legislation.  And so I predict that by this time next week we won’t be talking about this…. again.

It’s not a new story.  It’s just gotten a new kink twist.  And as surprising as it is, we have relegated foreign involvement in our election process to a mere eyebrow raising experience for months now.

And when you consider that the involvement comes from a country that was our deepest enemy 30 years ago it’s rather eye opening.  A KGB operative from the cold war is now sock puppetting our President – but Congress will shrug it off because that is in their personal best interest.  The country be damned.

Humans are terrifyingly easy to manipulate.  And more nightmarish, those being manipulated will fight you tooth and nail when you suggest that they are being manipulated.  So, the staunchest GOP supporters will shrug off this manipulation as well.  Because they have been given all the necessary rationalizations they need to do it.

And again I must ask myself.  Where am I being manipulated?  Will I recognize it when I see it?

Is the hysteria of the left causing me to think more is there than there is?  Is Putin REALLY sock puppetting?  Is there really a handler?

The last time I talked myself out of the hysteria on the left was when Bush was talking about WMDs.  Despite disliking Bush rather intensely I thought “Well obviously he has a wider and deeper set of information than I have.” I was wrong.  What I perceived as biased hysteria was correct.

So.  I am left with the strong conviction that Putin is currently and actively manipulating the politics in our country.

When Language Becomes Reality

Donald Trump wants the electorate to focus on the imagined evils of immigration instead of the clear problem of the growing gap between the uber wealthy like himself and the rest of  us.    He is using supremacist language to distract from Wealth/Poverty gap.

He flings insults at Muslims and discussed deporting them and how he would increase his war on terror.  He wants to build a wall to block out Mexicans and presumably every Latin American Immigrant.  He calls Mexican’s rapists and criminals.  He disparages the Black Lives Matter campaign.  All of these things are coded white supremacy language.

Hitler used similar tactics.  He came to power during the depression, when there was a huge disparity between those with money and those without.  Class distinction was the big issue then.   One of Hitler’s strategies to gain power was “removing the language of class warfare and replacing it with bonds of shared racial society which crossed classes“.

Trump is not qualified to fix the complex problems facing this nation.  But he is good at distraction.  And if he became President, its hard to imagine him being able to accomplish much legislation, he has antagonized so many of his own party and he certainly isn’t going to get help from Democrats.  So he will have to turn to more extreme distractions.  It’s desperately important to remember how Hitler escalated his own language of racial supremacy.

This isn’t a reality show.  It’s real.

Get some Perspective!

Seriously.  We are a bunch of idiots raging about a silly forgettable speech using utterly common phrases that she lifted from another speech that were probably lifted from other works.  WHO THE FUCK CARES?

Now the meme going around is the obviously UNINTENTIONAL Nazi salute by Laura Ingraham. Stop focusing on the unimportant things and attack at the devastating policies, the clear hate mongering, the  obvious character failure of Trump.

During the RNC they brought the officers who beat Freddie Gray to death in a police van onto the stage and cheered them.  THINK ABOUT THAT!!!   The GOP needs to be called on that.  It needs to be the thing we are outraged about.  That is so much more important than a couple of innocous lines in a speech.

They had three people whose children were killed by immigrants on stage to discuss the problem of immigration.  As though immigration policy kills children.   That obvious manipulation of reality needs to be called out and not allowed to lay there.

What matters is being ignored.  Really scary bad things are going unnoticed so you can rage about really UNIMPORTANT stuff.

If this man gets elected, it’s going to be a disaster, and not because Melania googled “first lady speeches” when she wrote hers.

Your damn memes about unimportant stuff are only directed to people who agree with you.

If you want to help, point out the stuff that matters so that people on the fence will vote for Clinton.

We need to work on the important stuff, not the stuff that feels easy.

The Reality vs the Reality Show.

This is the Women for Trump Event at the RNC.  The few chairs filled are journalists and interns.Cnp7lh_WcAAtR86[1]

Trump is losing his grip on the Reality Show he’s running for his Presidential campaign.  In a Reality Show, outrageous behavior gets views.  And so the circus that is Trump is getting lots of attention.

But it’s important to remember, that there is a large and important difference between Reality Shows and actual reality.  And the behavior that garners so much attention is indicative of some very disturbing realities.

Donald Trump has continually shown his disdain for women.

As Megyn Kelly pointed out to him during the debate, “You have called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs’, ‘dogs’, ‘slobs’, and ‘disgusting animals.”

Those are things that are publically recorded.  Think about that.  Trump, as much as we see of him, is living 90% of  his life outside the public record.

I don’t suppose that his off record behavior is actually better than what we see in public.

And while his open contempt for women is disturbing, his attitude toward sexual assault is disgusting.

Actual Tweet by Donald Trump:

26,000 unreported sexual assults [sic] in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?

The belief that sexual assault is inevitable is one that comes from a belief that women are merely objects for penetration by a man’s penis.

The belief that sexual assault is inevitable comes from the personal experience of not governing your own desires and thinking that is normal and acceptable behavior.

Those beliefs are leftovers from the past.  A past we should have left behind.

Then we must consider his disgust at the IDEA of a woman’s breast being used to feed a baby.

During a court proceeding, one the lawyers requested a break in the session because it was time for her to pump milk.  Many men might find that mildly uncomfortable.  But Trump found it so uncomfortable that he stood up and said “You’re disgusting” to the lawyer before leaving the room.  His lawyer doesn’t deny it.

He made a scene about it, in a circumstance where it was incumbent to his best interest to be polite and act appropriately because he was so disgusted that a woman would use her breast to feed her infant.

That illustrates his belief that women are merely sexual beings and his inability to capture any other part of a woman’s existence in his brain.

It also illustrates his inability to control his behavior in situations where good social behavior in not only expected but is in his best interest.  Whether or not he even recognizes that his behavior is inappropriate is in question as well.

I think it’s possible that Trump is afraid of women.  And that is why he acts this way.

He wrote the following in “The Art of the Comeback”

“Women have one of the great acts of all time. The smart ones act very feminine and needy, but inside they are real killers. The person who came up with the expression ‘the weaker sex’ was either very naive or had to be kidding. I have seen women manipulate men with just a twitch of their eye — or perhaps another body part.”

He clearly doesn’t see women as people.  He sees them as an antagonist he must overcome.  He’s obsessed with them, certainly, but he doesn’t think of them as complex personalities that he can get to know and be friends with.

His own feelings of inadequacy have mixed into his feelings of fear and disdain for women and we see him lose control repeatedly when women criticize him.

Look at how he insults the women who have either mocked him or reported negatively on him.

He sent a copy of Gail Collin’s article to her with her face circled and the words “The Face of a Dog” written on it.  She had called him a “thousandaire”.

He said Rosie O’Donnell was an animal, a slob, talks like a truck driver, is rude, obnoxious and dumb.  Because O’Donnell has used her comedy to skewer him repeatedly and well.

He called Megyn Kelly a bimbo because she asked him questions that made him look bad.

He called Ariana Huffington unattractive, both inside and out and said her ex husband made a good decision leaving her for a man. Because – well… the Huffington Post.

He said Bette Middler had an ugly face and body because she insulted his hair.

The Reality Show is good at hurling insults.  100s of them come rolling out of his Twitter account.  Literally 100s.  And it makes good theater and is certainly helping his campaign. And to be fair, these example of insults are only a small fraction of the factory of insults that run out of his brain nearly constantly.

But there is something rather too far in certain insults he throws at women who criticize him, isn’t there?  He makes too many of the insults about appearance because he can’t conceive of women as anything more than an object of sexual use.

He’s obviously overly sensitive to any form of criticism.  Which when you consider the venture he’s taken on, is a very bad quality.  If there is a more pernicious and impertent attack on privacy and self than running for and being President of the United States, I’m not aware of it.  It requires the sort of self control and self definition that can withstand constant and petty attacks from all sides and keep at least the appearance of polite indifference.

Trump has proven over and over that he doesn’t have that self control.  The insults that run out of his Reality Show are not just to keep him from being voted off the island.  They are the gut reaction of a man with some serious problems with women and his own self identity.

Do we want that person in control of our ENTIRE country?

Where is the Republicans Outrage about their candidates?

Liberals tend to paint a picture of The Republican as a white man with quietly or not so quietly held racist views, desperately and obliviously holding on to his white privilege like it’s a childhood blankie.

But the reality is surely otherwise.  We all know at least one perfectly reasonable Republican who is not a racist.  I know quite a few and I tend to believe there are a whole lot of them.

My biggest issue with them is that they are NOT screaming in outrage at what GOP candidates are saying and doing in the name of their party.

Why isn’t Donald Trump being kicked out the GOP for being a flagrantly misogynistic racist candidate?

Why isn’t anyone even demanding that?

If they don’t want their party to devolve into hellish caricatures of candidates, they need to defend it from the cretins who would make it that way.

Saying they will vote Trump out on the primary isn’t good enough.  The tacit endorsement of the Republican Party is all over him.  He represents their party.

I’m unaware that there is an effort on the part of everyday GOP voters to stop the disintegration of their party into a place where scared white racists go to bathe their fears.

Where is the GOP outrage?
